That First Encounter

It’s sometimes awkward during that first encounter with an attractive member of the opposite sex knowing what to say to break the ice. Such was the case when I met me sweetheart two years ago. However, after answering the traditional “So where are you from originally?” with “upstate NY,” it wasn’t long before we were both enthusiastically sharing our individual fond memories of Lake Placid.
She explained how her introduction to Lake Placid began about 9 years ago, shortly after being diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. A friend suggested a trip to this wonderful mountain village, and strongly urged her to stay at a specific resort - a place called “The Mirror Lake Inn!” She then shared an incredible story of how that particular weekend getaway, the mountains, the beauty, the warmth & elegance of the resort - all contributed to a renewed sense of fight in beating this terrible disease.
I was also familiar with the area and The Inn having grown up in the nearby Southern Adirondack Mountains, and together we spent the first hours getting to know one another sharing our wonderful memories of the village and the resort.
Less than a month ago we celebrated the two year anniversary of that memorable first meeting by spending the weekend together at The Mirror Lake Inn. I must say the resort is even more spectacular than I remember! The view of the lake and surrounding mountains from the Mountain View Lodge is absolutely breathtaking! The resort itself, the mahogany woodwork, the Adirondack charm, the attention to detail in every aspect of your stay, truly makes The Mirror Lake Inn a remarkable property. The Inn is a diamond in a gem of a village, and we look forward to many future trips to what we both agree is our number one favorite vacation destination.
