Romantic Getaway

My boyfriend, Danny, and I drove 5 hrs from NYC up to Lake Placid Dec 24, 2007 for a romantic getaway. It was both of our first time there. We checked in and got the first of many complimentary chocolate chip cookies. Christmas Eve, we ate dinner at The View. We had such a great time there together. (I recommend the Shiraz). Day 2 we went snowboarding. It was an easy drive over to the mountain and the hotel helped us buy the lift tickets. Danny was the best snowboarding instructor ever. It was my first time so I stayed on the bunny slope the whole day and he stayed right by my side. Afterward, we hung out at the hotel and played Chess at Taste, the hotel’s bar. I was smart and had planned a surprise Couple’s Massage on Day 3 at the hotel’s spa. We ended up relaxing the entire day. After our massage, we went in the hot tub and watched the snow fall outside the window. Day 4- We had another memorable experience. The Night Snowshoe Trek, scheduled through the hotel, turned out to be a private guided tour because we were the only ones on the trek. It was incredibly romantic being in the woods at night with only the moon light illuminating our path. We walked to Lake Placid, learned about the Adirondacks, and had hot chocolate as we trekked through the freshly laid snow.
Another great thing about Mirror Lake Inn is its location. We were so close to everything. We walked through the town almost daily and ate at The Cottage, Soulshine Bagel, Charlie’s, and The Great Adirondack Steak and Seafood Co, which was our favorite. We went in almost every quaint shop and listened to some live music at a local bar. All in all, it was a GREAT winter getaway. (be be de de be be)
