| Better than Disney World By: Dawn E. Rockville Centre, NY |
We have been coming to the Mirror Lake Inn almost every summer for the past 13 years. As with most families, we are faced each year with the decisions of embarking on a family vacation. As the Mom of the family, this decision mostly lands on my shoulders. I have researched many places with the hopes of exposing my children to the many wonderful sites and scenes of this wonderful country. Inevitably they always say "why don't we just go to the Mirror Lake Inn".
I say the past 13 years but to be honest, there have been years when I have anxiously persuaded them to try something new. We have hiked the parks in Maine; embarked on the ever popular shrine to baseball with all its glory; traveled across the country to see the Golden Gate bridge and of course, no family would be complete without the every popular visit that includes the hail to the Mouse. But to my avail, as the next year came around, they would always say "why don't we just go to the Mirror Lake Inn".
It is hard to sum up why my family is drawn to staying at the Mirror Lake Inn. We all have different reasons. It may be the chocolate chip cookies that draw us back each afternoon. It may be the pristine lake with its many choices of recreation, or enjoying a hike up Whiteface Mountain. I often tell everyone about how an early morning stroll into town feels so welcoming with the merchants busily getting ready for the daily throng of folks that visit Main Street each day.
As our children grow, we have so many fond memories of our summers in the Adirondacks. And are proud to share with people that in our family, a stay at the Mirror Lake Inn is “better than Disney World”.
