My best friend - Sandra - and I have been going to Mirror Lake Inn for the last 4 years for a girls week-end. This year the week-end was extra special. On Saturday afternoon we were sitting in the livingroom playing crib. It was a beautiful winter day and the snow was softly falling. There were people playing checkers and others having a cup of afternoon tea. There was a young couple and a women sitting infront of the fire chatting quietly. A man -who we thought was the hotel wedding coordinator- walked into the livingroom and sat down with the young couple and they began a conversation. Being that we are all so close we over heard mention of a wedding and the next thing we knew the "wedding coordinator" was reciting wedding vows. Sandra and I smiled at each other along with all the other women in the room over the sentiment of the vows. It seemed that we all had heard the words before, but somehow you never get tired of hearing them. So we continued to play cards and enjoy our glass of chardonnay. A few minutes passed when the "wedding coordinator" asked the women who was sitting alone infront of the fire to sign a paper. We glanced over at them, but we didn't think much else of the situation. Later that evening as we were now sitting infront of the fire waiting to go off to dinner in the dining room we met up with the women who signed the paper. We asked her about what had happened and to our surprize we found out the couple had indeed gotten married. The so called "wedding coordinator" turned out to be a Justice of the Peace. We felt terrible that we did not even stop playing cards during the ceremony. Allison -the witness for the ceremony- told us that they did not want to disturb anybody and they thought the setting was just perfect. We thought it was funny-romantic. Later that evening after dinner we went back to sit infront of the fire and we met up with the newlyweds. We were able to congratulate them and wish them all the best. They were moving to England and we wished them all the luck in the world.
What a beautiful story on a perfect day in a magical setting. Thanks for the memories. We hope to have many more as we plan on returning every year for as long as we can.
