Throw Away the Clocks!

The man in my life, Thomas White, and I escaped to Mirror Lake right before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season began in 2006. Our goal was to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect. Two careers, two households, and two children in my home makes for a very time-constrained lifestyle.

We arrived during a rain storm, but immediately warmed up with cookies and tea, feeling the stress lift away like steam from our cups. We spent some time relaxing in the room, then headed for the sauna and whirlpool. By the time we exited stage left, we were ready for a nap, so we indulged ourselves. Dinner at The Cottage, some time spent lounging in the Mirror Lake robes, and we were off to sleep.

Our tandam massage the next day was just a little bit of nirvana in the lives of two busy people who rarely have the time to devote to ourselves, much less each other. As we strolled around the village later that day, we both remarked on how much fun it had been to throw away the clocks for a couple of days.

Tom and I had the chance to talk, to explore, and to unwind together. When things get a little overwhelming at work or at home, I take myself back to Mirror Lake in my mind, and can feel my breathing change from harrassed to relaxed!
