| More than Imagined! (A Follow Up!) By: Kim A. Lake Placid, NY |
In December 2006, I spent what should have been one of the most nerve-racking days of my life at the Mirror Lake Inn. Strangely, not only was I not stressed out beyond belief, by the time my limo showed up that evening, I could have not have been more relaxed!
My bridesmaids and myself were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived at the Inn on the day before my wedding. What a wonderful surprise to open the door to our room and be greeted with flowers, champagne and light snacks.
After a month that was sadly devoid of snow, we were lucky to be greeted the next morning by a fresh blanket of fluff. What a beautiful sight it is to look out the windows of your cozy room and be able to view Mirror Lake and the lights of a town dressed for the holidays. Inspiration for a snowglobe!
We spent the morning of the wedding day pampering ourselves with treatments at the spa and relaxing in the sanctuary. What a special way to connect with old friends while trying to stay calm for the upcoming nuptials (of course, the mimosas we were treated to certainly helped)! Two of my bridesmaids have never before had a massage, and now they can’t wait for their next trip to Lake Placid so they can visit the Spa again!
As the evening approached, we dressed for the festivities and proved that yes, the rooms are spacious enough for 7 girls and all their accoutrements! The Inn staff and guests graciously allowed us room in the main lobby to take pictures and have a bit of fun (harp, anyone?) before descending the staircase to their applause and well wishes, and our waiting limousine.
My husband and I returned to the Inn late that evening, and were surprised (yet, again!) to be greeted by champagne and chocolate strawberries! After a day filled with so many emotions, I almost cried – how can they think of everything? It was a sweet, sweet ending to a fabulous day as we toasted our new life together.
What an amazing way to spend the day of my wedding. In such a small town, it is truly unique to have an experience that makes you feel you are miles away from the ordinary. Thank you to the Weibrechts and all of the Inn staff for making our time at the Inn so memorable.
